Roberta Bracciale, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Media Sociology at the University of Pisa (Italy), Department of Political Science, where she is also the director of MediaLaB – Big Data in Social and Political Research Lab.

At the University of Pisa, she teaches Sociology of New Media in several master’s degree programmes (Business Communication and Human Resource Management, Digital Humanities, Sociology) and Sociology of Communication in the bachelor’s degree programme in Political Science.  She also teaches Communication Theories in the master’s degree programme in Naval Sciences at the Italian Naval Academy (Livorno).

She is Research Associate at the Institute of Informatics and Telematics (IIT) at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Pisa, and Research Associate at DeVisu Laboratory, Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France (Valenciennes). She sits on the programme committee of the PhD in Data Science at Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa).

Her current research interests focus on the social impact of digital media, with special attention to political communication and methodological perspectives applied to social media analysis.
