Fabrizio Luccio
Fabrizio Luccio is an Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at the University of
Pisa. After his studies in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano, and an
experience in the Olivetti electronic research labs, he moved to academic activities.
Professor in different US universities including MIT, University of Southern California, and University of Illinois, he returned to Italy when a formal curriculum in Informatics was set up at the University of Pisa, where he served as department
Chairman and Coordinator of the first Italian Ph.D. program. He received several international recognitions for his research activity, is a Life Fellow of the IEEE, and an Honorary Professor of the Technical University of Xi’an and of the University of the Nationalities of Nanning in China.
For over thirty years he has directed a UNESCO project for the diffusion of mathematics and informatics culture at university level in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, and is a member of the Commission for Developing Countries of the European Mathematical Union.
