Founded in 2000 and located at the Caldera campus in Milan, MIX is the main Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Italy and among the first in Europe in terms of traffic, with daily peaks of over 1 Tbps. It is one of the few European IXPs equipped with its own datacenter where it offers interconnection services to Italian and foreign internet operators, providing a high quality, scalable and robust service. MIX has been the first Italian IXP to pass the strict controls required by the ISO27001: 2013 certification and to obtain the OIX-A certification of Open-IX, issued to only 2 IXPs in Europe and 10 in the world, confirming the level of excellence in terms of safety and reliability achieved. MIX is also a founding member of EURO-IX, the association that since 2001 has brought together European internet exchanges, and of the Open Hub Med consortium, the first neutral hub in Italy for the interconnection of networks of the Mediterranean basin towards Northern Europe.
